Enough dilly dallying

Get back to work. The last few of my days off from work have been only partially spent in the workshop. And it needed a deep cleaning and organization. As such not much got done since the fuselage roll out.

I didn’t realize it, but I think that because it was such a mess and so dusty, I didn’t want to be out in the garaggio. I also think that made me less productive when I was out there. At any rate, it’s clean now, and while it could always use more organization, it’s certainly functional again. I can already tell I’ll enjoy my time out there more.

The next 6 months or so, work will be focused on electrical and engine installation. As such really the fuselage is the only thing we will need. In an effort to get more organized and have more room in the workshop Greg and I built a wing rack in the garage. It gets them out of the way, protects them from damage, and minimizes the space they take. It took entirely too long to build the racks, but the wings and canard are secure.

You can see that gives us a lot more room in the shop. I turned the fuselage around so that the engine is next to the workbench. That way if I need to set something down, or a place to work on a sub assembly/accessory, a work surface is right there.

We had a little bit more time left in the day, so Greg and I swapped out the existing starter (it was 24 volt) with a new one. We also re-mounted the oil cooler. I need to support the oil cooler on the aft side yet, but that will happen soon. I think we can keep going on baffles now.

Would you believe me if I said I miss sanding? Nah, I didn’t think you would. I DON’T!
